— runawaytrainTrust is a fragile thing. Once trust is lost, it can be impossible to recover. Of course the truth is, we never know who we can trust. Those we’re closest to betray us, and total strangers can come to our rescue. In the end, most people decide to trust only themselves. It really is the simplest way to prevent ourselves from getting hurt.

Today, in the grocery store parking lot, I watched a man run as fast as he could with a packed shopping cart and then jump on the back for a ride. He smiled and chuckled aloud as he rode the cart all the way to his car. He was in his mid-40's and wearing a formal suit and tie. MMT
